Be a Legend, Be a Donor!  Give Blood with Bigfoot.

Be a legend and give blood with Arkansas Blood Institute.  Bigfoot is stomping his way through Arkansas—and a Bigfoot sighting means you can help save the lives of patients in our state!

August 12 through August 28, blood donors will receive a limited edition Bigfoot t-shirt.*

Arkansas Blood Institute donors in LITTLE ROCK, HOT SPRINGS, and RUSSELLVILLE areas will also receive a voucher for one free entry to the Little Rock Zoo.  This will be a paper voucher.

FORT SMITH area donors will receive a voucher for free admission to their choice of Frontier City Theme Park (1 entry) or Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City (1 entry) or Safari Joe’s H2O Water & Adventure Park in Tulsa (2 entries).  Please note: You will not be able to redeem your voucher on the same day as your donation. Please allow up to 48 hours for your donation to be entered into our system. You must set up your donor profile at yourbloodinstitute.org with a valid email to receive your voucher.  Frontier City vouchers not valid on Saturdays in July & August.

“The legend of Bigfoot is not only fun, but it is a way to motivate our donors to believe in themselves and the real power of blood donation,” said John Armitage, M.D., president & CEO of Arkansas Blood Institute.  “While Sasquatch does not qualify as human, and is therefore not eligible to donate, his willingness to use his celebrity status to scare up more pints is extremely generous.”

Only ten percent of people in the United States who are eligible to give blood actually do.  Blood donation takes just about an hour, and each donation can save the lives of up to three patients.  Whole blood can be donated every 56 days.  Platelet donations can be made as often as every 7 days, up to 24 times a year.

As part of the nation’s 6th largest non-profit blood collector, Arkansas Blood Institute’s donors provide every drop of blood needed for patients in more than 40 hospitals statewide.

It takes nearly 1,200 donors a day to meet those needs. Appointments to give blood are not required but can be made by clicking here to search for blood drives in your area or calling (877) 340-8777.

Or you can stop by one of our donor centers in:
Fort Smith
Hot Springs
Little Rock
North Little Rock
Russellville

Whole blood can be donated every 56 days.  Platelets can be given as often as every 7 days, up to 24 times a year.
