Walk for Wheezy Blood Drives

Be a friend and give blood with Arkansas Blood Institute at the Walk for Wheezy Blood Drives!

Arkansas Blood Institute will hold two blood drives to support Walk for Wheezy, a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Click on a location below to make your appointment:

Each blood donor will receive a t-shirt inspired by the hit sitcom “Friends.” Donors will also receive a complimentary admission to Museum of Discovery in Little Rock.*

Walk for Wheezy is named for Eloise Ann “Wheezy” Owen, of Cabot, who was born with a severe heart defect, and had numerous open-heart surgeries and blood transfusions.  Wheezy was fearless and loved dancing and sports.

Sadly, Wheezy died at the age of nine in 2016, following a series of pulmonary hemorrhages. Walk for Wheezy raises funds and awareness for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, which treats children with similar medical conditions.

“February is Heart Awareness Month, and this is a special event to help young patients in Arkansas who rely on blood,” said Mario Sedlock, executive director of Arkansas Blood Institute. “We are honored to have this opportunity to support Walk for Wheezy, and to support families dealing with congenital heart disease and defects.”

As a non-profit blood center, Arkansas Blood Institute’s generous donors provide every drop of blood needed for patients in more than 40 hospitals statewide, including Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
