Thunder T-shirt 2013

Holiday Blood Drive supported by the Oklahoma City Thunder

Dec. 28 - 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Fort Smith donor center

One lucky donor will win a pair of lower level tickets to an upcoming Thunder home game and a night's stay at a nearby hotel.

Each donor will walk away with an “I BLEED BLUE” Oklahoma City Thunder T-shirt while supplies last.

More than 20,000 donors between August and October chose to forgo their donor T-shirts so the Blood Institute could redirect those funds as special gifts to our Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Giving Greater

Children’s Miracle Network hospitals pledge to put children first and keep 100 percent of donations in the community where they were raised. Each year, thousands of families trust the care of their kids to our local children’s hospitals. Our donors show their support by giving blood that may be needed as these little ones battle for their lives. It should be no surprise, then, that so many have given up their donor T-shirts to support children.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

After launching a volunteer program in June, Arkansas
Blood Institute (ABI) staff in Fort Smith was excited to have
Lois Elledge step up as its first volunteer. Lois makes
reminder calls, works at mobile drives as a member of the
“thank you crew”, and assists in a variety of other ways.

Volunteer opportunities are now available in the Fort Smith and Hot Springs areas.

Isabelle Radcliffe

Blood recipient, Isabelle Ratcliff, says, "thank you," to a donor.

Little Survivor Gives Thanks

Last December, Isabelle Ratcliff was just returning home for the holidays. The eight-year-old had spent months in the hospital battling leukemia. But as her strength began to return earlier this year, she and her mother took a very important outing. The two visited a donor center to give thanks to donors giving blood. Isabelle wore her special shirt proclaiming,“I’m ALIVE Thanks To A Blood Donor.”

“The donors brought back memories for Isabelle,” said Rebekah Ratcliff, mom.
